Vision

To use our voice to empower people through knowledge and to bring to the forefront of people’s minds the plight of others. There is a duty on those who have to assist those who have not; whether it is with time, knowledge or commitment.

Aim

An open environment for organisations large and small to meet and discuss issues concerning our increasingly disconnected world, we need to find tangible ways of working together for the future. There are profound issues around sharing resources which connect humanity together.

What we hope to achieve

  • Learn and work together from each other in an open an honest way
  • Work together to empower, educate and change ourselves and others to make lasting change.
  • The world is connected and we need to understand this concept in order to go forward.
  • Kindness and giving is taught through religious and non-religious teachings – the human conscience finds comfort when it is compassionate.
  • A unique event that will springboard new ideas to flourish and look at ways of working together as well as connecting with people from diverse backgrounds.

We are hosting this unique event in an effort to gather a wide range of individuals/organisations who are addressing the issues of poverty and social justice, both in the UK and globally; with the aim of starting some new discussions and thinking on how various national and international networks can work together in finding common solutions. The event is invitation only and is targeting senior people from mainstream organisations, faith groups, community and business leaders and consular/high commissions; those who we have identified as key stakeholders that can participate in discussion and form new alliances to address some of the issues as mentioned above.

Organiser

London Muslim Centre

The London Muslim Centre (LMC) works with many humanitarian aid agencies to raise funds from the public and direct them to areas of acute need. Notable campaigns have included earthquakes in Pakistan, Turkey and Haiti; Cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh and the tsunamis of the South East Asia.

LMC hopes to work on ‘on-going’ campaigns rather than be reactive to disasters and identifies issues such as maternal health, support for orphans, and water aid as possible areas of work and development in the world. The various humanitarian crisis and poverty effecting many parts of the world has always be a cause for concern to the LMC, and it is to that noble end we seek to help play a part in eradicating problems that are stopping individuals live their lives to the highest potential.
